On Tuesday, the more than 4.9 crore voters in Gujarat will select 266 candidates for the remaining 25 parliamentary and five Assembly seats, amid intense heat and one seat already determined. The focus shifted from Surat, where the Election Commission (EC) rejected Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani's nomination after his proposers claimed their signatures were forged, to Rajkot in an election that saw no waves. The remaining candidates chose not to run.
